Co-operative societies are an autonomous association of persons united voluntary to meet their Common, Economic, Social and Cultural needs and aspirations through jointly owned and democratically-controlled enterprises. The feeling of brotherhood and a tendency to work together has grown among the members of these societies. Moreover, a sense of real democracy is communicated among the people. The fundamental objective of a Cooperative Society is to promote self-help and mutual help and to uplift financial viability of weaker member. The primary motto of a thrift and credit Cooperative Society is to refine the economic condition of its members.
The foundation of Cooperative Societies lies on the voluntarism and follows the philosophy of “All for each and each for all.” It implies that each member of the society voluntarily becomes the member and is not confined by any social, religious or political discrimination. Besides, anyone who meets the prescribed qualifications by the Cooperative’s Act, Rules & By-laws of concerned state, can be a member of the society.
To ensure rapid socio – economic development of persons of community at large and inculcate the habit of making small saving and to make the members competent to improve the living standards as well as save them from the harassment and exploitation of the private money lenders. Therefore, it is decided to set up a thrift and credit society with the association of persons having aims and objects for social, cultural and financial development in the year 1991 by our founder members.
Gujar Co-operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd is registered with the Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Delhi bearing Registration No. 801 (U) on 05.08.1991 & Certificate of Registration issued on 07.08.1991. The Society runs under the provisions of Delhi Cooperative Societies Act-35 of 1972, its registered byelaws and business policy framed by the General Body of the Society. The aim and objects of the society are to undertake thrift and credit business amongst its Society members only. It is please to mention that our society is successfully running for the last 31 years approx. and it has minimum N.P.A. till date.
The Society was organized & established by Ex. President Late Sh. L. C. Chechi Ji, Late Sh. Mansa Ram Ji, Late Sh. Ram Saran Bhati Ji & Late Sh. Praveen Kataria alongwith 52 Promoter Member and due to the immense efforts and hard work of all the Executive Bodies time to time specially Late Sh. Rajpal Singh Ji (Secretary / Treasurer), Sh. Satbir Singh Ji given his services from the starting of the society and Present working body Sh. Anoop Singh (President), Adv. N.S. Chechi (Secretary) and Adv. Videsh Kumar Bhati (Treasurer) and Management Committee of the Society.
There is a Team Work in our staff, they are very hardworking and experience in their work. The employees of the society especially Mr. Yashpal Singh is very hardworking, decent & elegant. It is through their hard work day and night that they have made a special contribution in taking the society to where it is today. He had completed the Diploma in Cooperative Management Course in the year 2004 itself and his 23 years of experience is greatly benefiting the society.
In the beginning of the society, its registered office was C-24, South Extension, New Delhi-110024 and after that it became Govindpuri, Delhi and at present the office of the society is at Gurjar Bhawan, Kotla-Village, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Delhi 110091 equipped with all furniture, fixture & facilities for comfortable feeling of its members and visitors. Hence, the dream and vision to help the members of the society by the way of thrift and credit has been become true.

The aim and desire of the founder members of the society was to convert the society into a Co-Operative bank.
